The handsome cast-iron-and-brick building on the corner of West Broadway and Murray Street in Tribeca is the stuff of Ne2w York legend—the kind with a history of occupants that borders on made up: candy makers, a medical journal, an aquarium store. Today a wine bar sits downstairs, and a variety of independent renters work throughout the six-story Gibbes Building. In March, its latest tenants arrived: design studio General Assembly, led by founder Sarah Zames and partner Colin Stief.
